The iconic Kingslander is a game day institution for Aucklanders and visitors going to events at Eden Park. It is the ideal meeting place before the game for a beer and a meal and then celebration or commiseration parties after the game with bands and DJ’s playing into the small hours of the next day.
The Kingslander is the local pub in Kingsland where you can shoot a game of pool or darts, watch all the TV sports events on its 3 large projector screens and 6 wide screen TVs or see some of the best live talent in the local music scene.
Upstairs is Nectar, a multipurpose function bar with an exposed rooftop garden. Many an Aucklander has celebrated their 21st, 30th or anniversary with their friends in this character bar.
The heritage building was originally the local grain & forage store, providing feed for the cities transport system then known as horses. Later it became an engineering workshop until 2004 when owners Gary Braid and Steve Gillett came along and saw the potential for a hospitality venue.
Both Gary and Steve being rugby men, Gary a former All Black and father of an All Black, wanted a watering hole close to Eden Park, so they teamed up and created The Kingslander and are still serving fine brews in Kingsland today.
